The Solander box design is based on the useful bookform
box created by Dr.Daniel Charles Solander
(1736-1782) the Swedish botanist. Solander boxes
are used by organisations and institutions large and
small both at home and abroad for storing prints and
drawings, works of art and mounted photographs.
We incorporate the very latest available archival
materials in their construction.
All are made with a plywood frame for strength,
covered with Arbelave Library Buckram and have
a card holder fitted to the spine (unless otherwise
specified). Brass Attaché fasteners are fitted to the lid
Solander boxes are made with an archival board base,
lid and inner shoulder, lined with photo-protective
paper incorporating a polythene barrier between the
plywood frame and the shoulder. |
